What a BMS Does for Your Building
A building management system (BMS) monitors and controls selected mechanical, refrigeration, metering and electrical plant from a central platform. Where specified, it interfaces with essential-services signals for monitoring and coordination, while life-safety systems keep their required standalone controls and compliance pathways. Done well, a BMS does three things: it shows you what your building is doing, it lets you control it from one place, and it helps cut running cost by stopping plant working harder than it needs to.
Are You Tied to One BMS Brand?
No — ACE Electrics is an independent systems integrator. We work across open protocols — BACnet and Modbus — and the major DDC and controls platforms — Schneider, Distech, Honeywell, Siemens and ABB, many running on the Tridium Niagara framework, plus open systems such as RDM (Resource Data Management) — so we can extend, integrate or replace what you already have rather than forcing a single proprietary system on you. That keeps you in control of your building and your future maintenance options.
Do You Work With Our Existing BMS, or Is It Rip-and-Replace?
We work with it. In most buildings the right move is to extend or progressively take over the existing system, not strip it out. We can take on the maintenance of a system someone else installed, add controllers and points as the building changes, and stage a head-end upgrade so you're never left without control. Where a system genuinely is at end of life, we'll tell you, and plan the changeover to minimise disruption.
Can a BMS Reduce Our Energy Costs?
Yes, where the plant, metering and commissioning support it. A well-tuned BMS reduces waste by matching schedules and setpoints to occupancy, optimising start/stop, trending consumption and flagging faults early. Actual savings depend on the plant, operating hours, tariffs and how the system is maintained — so we set the system up to make consumption visible, and tune it to the building.
Can You Support Our Green Star Requirements?
Yes. Green Star performance runs on data — energy and water metering, sub-metering by service, trending and verification. A well-configured BMS delivers exactly that: metering and sub-metering, consumption trending, ongoing monitoring, and the reporting that shows how the building performs over time. We set up the metering, monitoring and reporting so you have the evidence to support your Green Star rating and keep the building tracking against its sustainability targets.
One System Across Mechanical, Refrigeration and Electrical
Because ACE installs the mechanical electrical, the refrigeration electrical and the controls, we can bring them together under one BMS — instead of leaving you with three separate systems that don't talk to each other. Do you work with our existing BMS, or do we have to start again?
We extend or take over existing systems wherever possible — adding controllers, integrating plant, and staging head-end upgrades. Full replacement is a last resort, not the default.
Can a BMS reduce our energy and running costs?
It can, where the plant and metering support it. Scheduling, setpoint optimisation, fault monitoring and energy trending reduce waste and catch failing plant early; actual savings depend on the building and how it's maintained.
Can you integrate mechanical, refrigeration and electrical services into one system?
